Dwarf Mandarin Orange Tree Seeds (Citrus reticulata)
Grow your own dwarf mandarin orange tree at home! Perfect for patios, small gardens, or container growing, these seeds give you the joy of cultivating your own fragrant and delicious citrus.
About the Mandarin Orange:
-
Small citrus tree (Citrus reticulata) with fruit similar to other oranges.
-
Sweet, juicy fruit is great for eating fresh or adding to salads.
-
Reddish-orange cultivars may be called tangerines (not a botanical classification).
-
More drought-tolerant than many fruit trees, but tender and sensitive to cold.
-
Ideal for tropical and subtropical climates, or container growing in colder areas.
Seed Germination Instructions:
-
Remove seeds from fruit and rinse under lukewarm water to remove any juice or flesh.
-
Optional: Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours to improve germination.
-
Plant seeds ¼–½ inch deep in a 3-inch pot filled with rich, well-draining potting soil (neutral to slightly acidic pH).
-
Water soil thoroughly and let drain. Cover the pot with a small transparent bag, cutting 1–2 holes for air, to retain heat and moisture. Secure with an elastic band if needed.
-
Place in a bright location with a few hours of direct sunlight daily.
-
Water when soil surface appears dry. Remove the bag once the seedling emerges and grows beyond the bag.
-
Transplant when roots appear around the drainage holes, either to a larger pot or outdoors in a sunny, uncrowded spot.
Key Features:
